On January 24, 2011, Sergeant Thomas Baitinger led a rescue team into the house to reach K-9 Officer Jeffrey Yaslowitz, who had been shot by a wanted fugitive hiding in the attic.
Sergeant Baitinger was shot by the suspect when a bullet missed his ballistic shield and struck him through the shoulder.
He is survived by his wife, Paige, and countless family members who dearly loved and respected him.
When we take up the shield to serve and protect, we understand the risks involved. Sometimes those risks become a reality and the highest price is paid. We will honor them, and protect their families as they protected ours.
Your support keeps the memorial standing and stands beside the families of those who gave everything.
